I do like a long goodbye, but this was ridiculous!
Ridiculous, but fun.
I started it with my “farewell show” at Shout Saigon two weeks before my departure yesterday. Shout is one of my favorite venues, owned by a lovely friend called Phuong, and I got a decent turnout; mostly my friends, of course, but at this point, that’s quite a few people.
(Speaking of whom, more than forty Saigon friends have signed up to this Substack, so welcome to everyone who’s new to the blog, though hardly new to me! I hope you enjoy it.)
The really big farewell was a pool party at my apartment, a great collection of friends in which at one point every single person was in the pool…even as it rained! (It has rained three of the last four days, meaning that my plan to avoid the rainy season was almost perfectly timed!).
