This Man at Burning Man

A preview in outfits, by way of a look back

Just got my old laptop out of storage, and it has 13,000 photos I’ve not seen in some time, including pictures of Burning Men past, shot between 2000-2022, so I pulled a few out to share. The early years are usually printed on paper, and not so accessible, so underrepresented here.

I try not to post pictures of other people without their consent, let alone in their skivvies at BM, and I can’t be bothered to get it. In any case, I tend not to take too many photos at Burning Man, I’m…busy.

Beyond all that, the pictures of art and art cars and sunrises on the playa clog the web. So, as with this email in general, I’ve decided to limit my focus: Below are some of my various outfits over the years; just one man’s look changing over 23 years. The biggest change at this point is that I would not look as good in those skimpy things now as I did then.

But it’s only a week in the desert, as we say. No one except me hates my extra pounds.
