The plays all sound interesting but I gotta say I would love to see Appropriate. Anything regarding dysfunctional families draws me right in.

My sisters used to purchase Broadway tickets for two shows for my birthday, if I was headed to Greece. That’s been year ago and I can’t imagine affording tickets now! What great fun it was for me!

David!! I had the EXACT same opinion of Stereophonic. I also thought it was horribly long with lots of empty space and unnecessary parts that didn't add to character development or the story. You could trim at least 30 minutes. There is no way it needs to be 3 hours. When I saw it on a TH night about a month ago, people were walking out in the second act. I was in shock when the Tony awards were handed out.

Thank you for sharing and making me feel like I wasn't the only one who felt that way!

Fascinating. Have loved Illinoise album since its appearance. Re: Stereophonic: Have virtually no, as you might guess, interest in that iteration of FMac. Hope you're getting the inspiration you need to forge on with your project, but not quite sure why you're looking for it on Broadway or the Tonys, unless that kind of thing is your goal? Maybe down the street a few blocks there's something unique brewing? Which is not to say these productions are not "unique", but you get what I mean. In any case, as I've noted before, especially enjoy the music related posts! Thx.

I am indeed, and yes, I've done some searching off of the Great White Way, but in fact, my musical is aimed right at the heart of Broadway, so it is those shows I most want to see. IF there were something interesting – I'm mildly interested in the gayed-up version of "Cats" playing downtown, based on the '70s ballroom scene that brought us voguing, but..."CATS"? Ugh. Bottom line, I AM getting inspired, and just today scored a sublet in Berlin for a month, where I will focus on my show. If you hear of anything "unique brewing" here, I'd love to hear about it.

Recommended reading: Showstoppers, The New Yorker 6/3/24, about Tony winning director Rachel Chavkin of hit Hadestown and the not hit Lempicka, which just closed this spring after about 40 performances. Also Mentions a cool sounding restaurant called Joe Allen which has Broadway musical posters on its wall, but they're all flops.

I downloaded it. I actually saw both shows, and was at the cast preview for Lempicka, where I met the DM for Hamilton, who may be helping me get my musical on paper. INSPIRED! Joe Allen, I just walked past yesterday, AND the day before, and knew I'd heard the name, but figured it was one of those old places riding on past glories. I may check it out before I leave.

My brother Mitch worked at Joe Allen for a number of years in the 70s and 80s. He had fun stories. Thanks for reminding me.
